Quick and Easy Dal to make. A Comfort Food @ my home. Whenever i m very tired to make something interesting for my kiddo, i make him this Mildly spiced Dal with all the Veggies.When Served with Hot Rice and a Dollop of Ghee on top, mmmm!!!! Happy Kiddo, Happy Mummy!!!!
Ingredients
1 Cup Masoor Dal
1 Carrot, Chopped
1 potato, Peeled and cubed
1 Capsicum, Chopped
1 green Chilli, slited lengthwise
1 medium tomato,chopped
Salt to taste
Tempering
1 tbsp Oil/ghee
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp grated ginger
1 garlic grated (optional)
3 Red Chillies, long variety, broken into pieces
hing a pinch
Curry leaves a few
Method
- Pressure Cook Dal, Veggies, Green chilli, Tomato with little turmeric, together until soft. Usually i cook for 4-5 whistles in the cooker.
- Heat oil/ghee in a kadai, Splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds, add hing and curry leaves.
- Add garlic, ginger and Red chillies, let it sizzle, Add the cooked dal-veggies to this sizzling spices.
- Add 1/2 Cup of Water and Salt.Let it simmer for 10 minutes. Check the consistency of Dal, if its too runny, let it sit for another 5 minutes. or else take it off the stove.
- Serve Hot with Rice or as an Accompaniment for Idly/Dosa/Chapathi
Note:
- You can add some more veggies to this Cauliflower, peas even leafy Vegetables.
- The Spice can be adjusted according to your taste.
